Description of work conducted

The project involved intersection safety improvements and reviewed the existing conditions, four options and six sub-options. The assessment recommended additional safety improvements for alignment with safe system principles

 

Project outcomes

  • Seven strategic improvement options were assessed for the intersection. All options reduced the safe sstem assessment (SSA) score against existing conditions and improve safety at the intersection. The option of a full diamond interchange achieved the lowest SSA score and aligns closest with safe system principles.
  • Additional primary and supporting treatments were discussed to further align designs with safe system principles.
